Studio Nessuna is the creation of Sarah Mele. Sarah is a multi-hyphenate creative currently focusing on large, multi-media acrylic abstractions. She is a studio holder at Albany Barn since 2025.

She has always possessed a passion and talent for drawing, art and creative expression. The daughter of an interior decorator and fabricator and an immigrant chef, she has always loved making things with her hands, from custom clothing, to dinner party menus, to more traditional visual art. While Sarah’s first artistic love was pencil and charcoal portraiture, she is deeply obsessed with color and regularly draws inspiration from the world of textiles, fabric and interiors.

Sarah’s abstract work was initially borne of a desire to seek a non-verbal, decisive physicality in stark contrast from the corporate, sedentary office career she held for nearly a decade. She seeks to express a strong sense of movement, flow and tension through restrained, strong color pairings, while maintaining an ongoing practice of fearless and expansive experimentation as she develops and hones her process. With this work, she hopes to explore things as large and meaningful as the gendered dynamics of the world we live in and the selective valuing of labor and as humble as the small daily joys of life. In all of it, an expression to self and others of free will, humanity, and aliveness!
